Plenty of those in the states that people are more than happy to let you kill 12 months out of the year. Show me a Gold Medal Red Stag or Alpine Ibex killed on public land without huge guide fees. I'm over here, I have been in the field and I see what guy are killing. From what I have witnessed it's in no way better than what we have in the US.... but at least it's hunting.

Some people are passionate enough to hunt all year and some aren't.  Boar in Europe are not the feral hogs of the states.

What's wrong with a 100 euros for a guided hunt landing an 8 point bull?

How long did it take you to stop slamming that R8 like a turn bolt?

Sure is one sexy piece of equipment!  Are they just as expensive over there as they are here?

I think I got used to it in the first couple range sessions. I like to think I got a deal on it over here but if I bought it now as opposed to 3 years ago with the exchange rate as good as it is now, it probably would have saved me $800.  :bash:

I do think it's awesome that you are enjoying your time and hunts in Germany. Certainly a great life experience for a hunter. I just disagree completely that things are better here than the US. I know this is really just a matter of opinion and perspectives.

We don't generally have the pure breds but we have the European Boar/Feral Hog cross breeds... The bottom line... we have hogs to hunt thus I would disagree that Europe is better.

I also don't see how the length of the season makes hunting better than the US but even in that case I could travel around and  deer hunt 7 months out of the year and then I have bear, turkey, and all sorts of amazing game in Alaska that could fill in the rest of that five months.

If I was an Alaska Resident I could hunt world class animals on public land there for low cost and then fly down and have a DIY hunt for world class animals on public land in the lower 48 all for a much lower price than it would cost me to hunt a world class Red Stag and Alpine Ibex in a single year here in Europe.

I love hunting too and I try to extend my season as long as I can by setting self imposed weapon limits and limits on what I will kill. However, it doesn't take anywhere near 9 months to fill the freezer for the year. For that reason I can't see needing 9 months to hunt and eventually it would become more about killing than hunting and that is just not what I am about......I still hunt in a way after the season because I use that time to scout and prepare for the next season... does that make the passion for hunting any less? I wouldn't think so. I actually consider it part of the hunting process. I spend as much time in the woods as possible.

Probably hunting here this weekend. Can't wait till fall. There is a wedding I'm supposed to attend in Wa September 19th so I'll try to turn that into a hunting trip.
