Thanks guys, how about carbine vs mid-length gas system on a 16" barrel?   

I have rifle length 16" carbine barrels. I would take the mid length over a carbine length everytime with a 16" barrel. Every carbine length 16" is "Over gassed" pretty much. a mid length is great and either with a adjustable gas block is perfect.

Take a look at the BTE, set crew, micro adjustable gas block. Great gas block for a great price.

$85 barrel!! frick... someone tell me why not to buy it before I do... Is the carbine length gas block going to be a problem?? I am looking to build 2 ARs for my daughters and frankly... they will not be shooting them enough or "well enough" for "real" accurracy to be an issue...

Am I being silly... will $50 more get me a lot better barrel?

I know, right?  $85 seems great.  The only problem is that I cannot find any reviews on these barrels besides from the website itself.

I think I am tending towards Brownell's Upper/BCG (Bushmaster), 16" mid length Green Mountain Barrel ($158), charging handle, gas tube, and block for a grand total of $326.  Add my $75 lower with donated parts and buttstock (thanks Capn Silver), a $15 magazine, and a $45 FF Forearm from Amazon for a grand total of $470.   

If I do another build, my son will probably get this one and I can get an 18" barrel for my ew one.

The barrel and trigger are the two components (other than quality ammo) which have the greatest impact on accuracy. IMHO, you get what you pay for. Almost everything else can be bird parts - cheap, cheap, cheap. My

Search Amazon, Trinity Force free float forearm.  No reviews, but beats spending $150 IMO.

Just an FYI most of the Trinity Force stuff is cheap counterfeit Chinese junk.

Lots of stuff being copied in China and brought into the counrty as airsoft parts etc.

Give me a call and i'll see what I can scrounge up for your build....

Grrrr, I procrastinated too long on the Brownells upper + bcg on sale for $119, now it's $149.

Well, had a nice breakfast with Capn Silver this morning and he turned over his extra Stag Arms lower parts and buttstock, thank you very much once again.     Then I met up at two locations with other members, thanks guys for working with my SeaTac to Decatur travel schedule.

After dinner, I laid out all of the parts and took a photo.  Can you tell me what's missing?
