I'm a little out of the area, Dale  :sry:

Is there a way I can pitch in a few bucks that will go directly to the cause?

Come on, airfare out of Arizona should be peanuts for you, or are you afraid of the cold already, hope to see you there. ;)

I try to pitch in for most fundraisers around here, but it would really be fun to be a part of an event. Especially in Okanogan--i've only been there once in my life and that was a rare camping trip as a kid :bash:

I'd love to make it, but the cost of the gas or plane ticket could buy a ton of seedlings. Then again if I drove up, imagine all that warm, green house gas C02 "food" I'd be creating for the new young trees. Al Gore would be proud, no?  :chuckle:

Sent my contact info to Dan.

Methow web cam ... Looks pretty frosty over there right now.

We're moving the first two weekends of April. And I'm pretty booked until then.  It'll be nice to get a break from the home stuff and go plant little seedlings for critters to munch on.

I'm in

Are you planning on putting this on our Facebook acct.  If so I will share it and probably get a lot of participants that are local to Wenatchee.

If we get a group maybe we could set up a carpool up that way as well

We need to see if we can do a multi day seed and just do a camp.  Seed all day and hang out all night....repeat.

I just bought a new Cabela's bighorn III tent and will be picking it up tomorrow. Could be a great chance to give it a trial run.

Do we have any idea of when a possible date or even a month would be? And can someone local be in charge of finding a large public land area that we could all camp in?

Edit: or private field away from neighbors.

I will touch base with the bios up there and see what they are looking into so far.  Plenty of land that could be used for camping, both public and private, and we'll arrange that as project sites are determined.  Thanks to all of you for signing up so far.  We have more projects coming up all over the East side of the state, and Klickitat too, so let me know if any of you would like info on specific areas of the state near you, too.
In the meantime, I'll get some Okanogan info and pass it on to all of you as soon as I get it.  Thanks again!

Finally got some info from the Bios up in Okanogan County, and there will be a project coming up on the first weekend of August, for weed identification, in order to do some eradication in preparation for fall planting.  Anyone interested can show up to help, or send me an email for more info or to let me know you plan on coming to help out.  I've copied the text of the letter below to explain some of what will be going on.  I know it's short notice, but hopefully some of you can make it.  The are also a couple maps he has, and I can email those to any of you who would like them.  Thanks

Volunteers -

Thank you very much for your interest in protecting Mule Deer habitats. Invasive weeds are one of the top threats we face as land managers and your efforts to survey for noxious weeds on our wildlife areas will help us greatly and help achieve or our agencies mission:

To preserve, protect and perpetuate fish, wildlife and ecosystems while providing sustainable fish and wildlife recreational and commercial opportunities.

Below are the specifics to the weed surveying event.

WHERE –       North Summit Sno-Park near Loup Loup Pass (directions below)

WHEN    --       Saturday August 1st @ 8am.

WHAT TO BRING -    GPS Unit(s)
         Hiking Boots
         Long Pants & Shirt
         Sunscreen & Bug Repellent

Once gathered at the Sno-Park we’ll perform a brief overview of the day – weed identification, GPS use, data sharing and a couple safety issues. After that, we’ll each travel to a wildlife area of your choosing that was affected by the Carlton Complex Fires last year. Each of you will be responsible for your own lodging. There are numerous places both in the Okanogan and Methow Valleys. Loup Loup and JR Campgrounds are both USFS campgrounds and within a mile of the meeting location. Leader Lake (DNR) and Buzzard Lake (WDFW) are also close by. We can provide you with more suggestions if you’d like.

Please contact me if you have questions. We look forward to working with each of you. Thank you!
