Looking at steel framed RV sheds for my new trailer. Anyone have installed and what you think about it.

I had a pole barn RV carport built last year and love it.  Mine is 12x36x14 tall.  Great way to protect your trailer.

What was your cost if you dont mind? i think the ones from the link I posted are alot cheaper than the pole barn style.

I paid just over 6K if I remember right.  I looked at the metal ones like you posted and there were hidden cost that drove the price up.  Depending on where you live you will have to get a building permit at which time you will have to have engineering plans.  They will provide those for a cost.  In most cases you will have to bump up to a higher wind rating / heavier steel and different anchors (unless you are poring a slab).  Long story short those package deals can start adding up quickly.

Here it is.....After my shop is built this summer I will side the top 4-6 feet on both sides.   A 12' would work, but I wanted it the same heights as the peak of my roof for aesthetics.  When I poor a slab it will give me about 13.5' clearance.

Just had one erected in November after waiting three months on the list of customers. It was placed on a hard gravel pad and measured 14' wide by ~14 high by 40' long. I could have gotten an 18' wide for the same price but didn't have the room.

I bought it from http://www.coveryourtoys.com/ located on Fox Island, WA. The phone number is, anyway. The owner doesn't take web orders - he wants to talk to anyone who wants to buy over the phone.

It was $4,610, $500 up front and the balance on delivery. The crew came out in the morning, "Buenos Dias!" and got started. A few adjustments needed to be made in my "level" gravel, but all was taken care of quickly. I had to loan them a pick and shovel. No problema. We made sure to have a pot of hot coffee ready for break time.



I requested a small change in the siding. Since the garage already protected one end of the carport, I asked them to put one piece of siding on the exposed quarter. Again, no problema. They were cleaned up and out of here on schedule. I got airline miles on my credit cards. Very happy, especially when the rains came.



I would probably have arranged for gutters in advance, either from the contractor or another supplier. I am very pleased with the quality of the materials. The tubing is not Navy yard quality hot dip galvanizing, but it's not living in sea water, either. The "foundation" is 2-3' nails driven into the ground. I don't think they are going anywhere. It is a portable building in that it can be moved and has no permanent foundation. As such, I do not believe it requires a building permit in my county.

Wish I had done it years ago. BTW, it was the same price back then.

I've built two, but these are probably a little big....     The supplier was Outback Steel Buildings, or something like that.  All steel is the way to go if you can afford the extra cost. I had one guy working for/with me to do these.

Rich S mine is almost identical to yours. Same deal on width. Went 16' wide but 18' would have been same price. 36' long. 1 panel both sides. Horizontal roof. $3600. Had to get a permit here. The one I bought before that I was told along with my brother in law and hundreds of others, by the salesman, that they are a temporary structure and don't need a permit.

Guess what? During tax assessment time. Any of those buildings that weren't on the tax rolls were turned into the building dept. They then sent notices out to over 1100 property owners with metal buildings that they need to make arrangements to permit them or see them in court.

Since I had to get a permit I bought 4 pressure treated 4"x4"x8's. Cut them in half. Cemented them 2' into the ground against an upright metal support. Drilled 2 hole about a foot apart through the support and ran a lag bolt through the holes into the 4x4. Really stiffened up the side to side movement and makes a great anchor!

I should have done gutters immediately...OH well, the will get done when I do my shop this year so they can do gutters all the way around.  Nice cover and yes...should have had it done years ago too.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently and said. "Metal Carports"

I had one done by the company you posted.  Mine is 12ft tall and 26ft long and I think it was $2300 with sides and the bigger tie downs.  I highly suggest the bigger tie downs.  With the amount of rain our soil gets and the high winds we get I would spend the money on them.  I have been really happy with mine.
