Are the dates of October 17-27 pretty solid?

I thought he meant like solid days for hunting mule deer, not solid as in "set-in-stone".

There are antlerless permits you can apply for and draw.
Not sure I'd call it a lottery....close. They vary between GMU's.

If it does get adopted I'm wondering if those last 4 days would run concurrent with modern elk season or if they'd push elk back a week??  :dunno:

If those openers stick there will be alot of pressure in the hills with no break! I like the fact that they are looking to move the deer opener back a touch and extend it a little but would be nice if they moved the elk back accordingly!!

They didn't move the modern deer opener back. It just happens to fall on October 17 this year. It fell on October 17 in 2009 as well.

And 2009 was a good year. ;)  Fog, cold weather, a little snow...what more could you ask for?

Typo there, should be 17-27. And yes, that's modern season for mule deer.

I searched the WDFW site, and there are no 2015 dates published as of yet.  Where are these dates coming from ?

So modern firearm general deer will start on Oct 17th and not 10th? Where are we getting this info? I wish they would set several seasons openning dates in advance! This guessing sure screws up trying to plan ahead for being off work.

These dates are currently listed as proposals under the rule making section on the wdfw website.   Seasons are set in advance on a 3 year cycle.   The proposed dates for the next 3 years are part of the package to be approved by the commission.

Hopefully everyone booked their vacation week starting on the 10th...  Sure will be a lot less folks in the woods.  :chuckle:

Modern deer would not start on the 10th unless they moved it up a week for some reason. October 11th is the earliest it would open, and I believe the 17th is the latest. We knew the 17th would be the opener even before the proposals came out.

Here is a link to the proposal:
