Where's all the MONEY go?
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:45:42 PM »
Awhile back reading the thread about multi season deer odds I started thinking...8500 tag issued..now I wasn't lucky enough to draw this tag... :chuckle: so I dont know the exact price of the tag.. But from what I've heard it was $139... Now I understand not everyone purchases tags drawn... But anyway round up to $200 assuming most of you buy other tags and licenses... So 200 x 8500 = 1,700,000.... Like I said not everyone purchases their multi season deer permit... But there are plenty of other tags and licenses and what not that we pay for..... where does all this money go... Lots of money for your methow deer there! :dunno:

Sorry, hunting license money still goes into the wildlife fund.  Different than the general fund.

I apologize, should have checked my own math. I didn't throw the extra zero in.

20 million in enforcement and 3 for habitat? and isn't the dnr under the wsp budget? either way I cant see where the money actually goes.. state land is a wreck and you need a discover pass ($35) plus the outrageous increase in pricing over the years.. id like to see a better breakdown of the funds

The DNR is its own agency, not part of WDFW or Washington State Parks. But I'm not sure why you mentioned that.   :dunno:

shoudnt have said dnr, wildlife officers is what I should have said.. not really the point of topic though, I agree with antlerhound. there should be more detailed info on where money is being spent.

Smoke and mirrors by the state.  I spend over $400 bucks each year for fishing and hunting tags with not much to show for it.  You notice that the pie chart posted is a two year total and does not imply or state that the funds for those programs comes from the sale of fishing and hunting licenses.  I too believe that our dollars go into a general fund which is allocated to all kinds of programs across the state.

Habitat money breakdown on that pie chart are activities (forest practices and water typing) that are done by DNR, not by fish and wildlife.  I have first-hand knowledge of this and have submitted applications to the DNR for both.  This is pure crap.  They just throw this one in to confuse the issue.

Virtually Zero dollars are spent on Blacktail Deer.  Sure we have wildlife areas that are designated Blacktail oriented, but that is by virtue of the haying of fields that are used for elk feed in winter.  They state that populations are managed at the PMU level (they say), but if you've read many of their reports, you begin to understand that they have virtually no idea how many BT deer are out there and ultimately use harvest data to determine if a population is depressed (and then do nothing about it).  I could go on and on............. :(
