Buying a scope @ Cabelas

I learned a good lesson about buying a rifle scope at Cabelas in Marysville today.  Like, don't. It was the most horrible shopping experience of my life. There were a dozen people standing waiting for help from  people behind the counter. There were two employees in the whole area. One was an old guy talking to a customer about th job not being important because he's retired from Boeing and gets a check for that every month. Then he'd stop what he was doing to fiddle around in his pockets awhile. Then he left, then the other one left. Now there are a dozen people waiting to be helped and no employees at all. After 40 minutes and no one even saying hello, I couldn't waste any more time and left.

I was there to buy a specific scope and I already knew which one. I just needed someone to hand it to me so I could take it to the punter and give them my money.  Oh, well, guess Sportsmans Warehouse will be happy to sell me the scope.

Sorry for the negative post. Pretty mad and needed to vent, I guess.

You can almost always get optics cheaper at almost anyplace online. I would only buy from Cabelas if they had a good sale. Usually when I do that I order online and have it shipped to the store, so I don't have to pay for shipping. Then I pick it up during the week, after work, when they're not busy.

I really like buying from www.midwayusa.com. I just recently ordered some bullets and reloading dies on a Saturday night, and I received an email from them on Sunday morning saying that my order had been shipped.

I order almost everything online now.

You get what you demand. I would have walked up front and taken whatever time was needed to talk to the Store Manager. And I would have reminded him that he works for a Billion dollar company that doesn't care enough to have staff on hand.
I did this very thing last week at Walmart. Two lines open 25 folks each line ,35 minute wait.
The manger didn't like it when I told him I managed a C-Store and at that very moment I had more people serving customers then his Billion dollar store.

The only thing good about Cabela's is their inventory, they are over priced.  I don't shop there, sportsmans for me.

I have been wanting to look at some binocs for a long time but every time I go to the counter I never get a chance so I say screw it

Did you take a number?  It's stupid, but you need to grab a number for buying scopes too.

Cabelas is NOT hunter/fisherman friends. Overpriced and crappy service just about every time I've been at one. They act like their stuff is the ultimate in quality, which it's not. I avoid them like the plaque..................

I was the Post falls store today to get a scope. I had no idea about the system.  I didn't take one. I came home and ordered it on OpticsPlanet.  No tax no shipping. Saved over $100. Cool store to look at stuff but that's about it. Pretty sure the new Sportsmans opens here in a couple weeks.

I've  never had a issue there, just bought my ziess there, cost was competitive.  I have never had a issue. Returning anything there either.

I did take a number. But the numbers weren't moving because all two of the employees had left. I would have fetched the manager and chewed his ass, but I was on a time limit to get to a family function. I live in Bremerton and left early to get there when they opened. I've shopped at Cabelas for 15 years, but when I find something to use my Christmas gift cards on, I'm done with them.

Would agree with you.  Bought a lot of stuff over the past few years from the local Lacey store including several scopes.  Just have to watch sales and take advantage of their coupon offers, check the Bargain Barn, etc.  Found some extremely good deals on firearms, especially rifles.

As far as the gun counter....go early or late and avoid weekends.

I buy most of my hunting/fishing stuff there as I use points accrued from credit card use. The Post falls store actually has pretty decent customer service it seems
