I should mention that this is my first time actually going after turkeys, so a lot of this is learning for me.

Well, that makes two of us. Three if you include my wife. She's a great shot, though. Turkeys can't be harder to hit than clays.

As long as we've got a nice, tight choke and 3" shells with #4 shot and have patterned the shotgun and practiced with it, we should be OK, yes?

None of that will help us find the birds, but if we do find them, it seems like we have a good chance?

Saw this when I went to Eloika for some fishing. It looked like there was a lot of private land, and not much for the public access. Not sure about the rattlesnake population either. I plan on trying out the Inland Paper Company land on Mt. Spokane for turkey, but that requires a $10 day use permit, or a $40 annual permit per person. You are more than welcome to try and knock down some birds up there with me if you want, and you get your own permit. I have mine already. I have not seen any snakes up there through bear season and cutting wood all last summer.

Off topic, but how was the fishing. Seems a little cold still. One of my favorite lakes.

I didn't get nibbled on either my bass setup or my trout. I was fishing off the bank though. The guys coming off of the boats didn't seem to be having much luck either. Oh, and further off topic, it was nice to see the gamies out there 2/3 visits checking tags and all of that.

I don't think we'll have a problem as long as we know our limits, and the limits of our guns. The hard/fun part will be finding birds.

Robinson Canyon is closed until May 1st. Not as many snakes as there used to be but still a few around.

Cool, thank you! I wasn't able to get out last weekend after turkeys and rattlers.

Last week was kind of a bad week - my grandpa died and a huge unexpected tax bill showed up two days apart.

This week is already better, though! Now we've got a place to go after snakes.

Thanks. I'm mostly sad for my dad (whose dad it is that died) - he's having a rough time of it. Was supposed to visit me but the day before he was coming he got the call that he needed to be with his dad. Life is short.

Congrats on the job! If you have to be unavailable, that's a happy reason!
