Spring tactics
« on: March 11, 2015, 04:23:02 PM »
This is my first year drawing spring bear just wondering what some of your favorite tactics are. Cover a lot of ground? glass a certain food source? drive around? Sneak through the timber?
thanks

I'm wondering the same thing and have the same questions.  I drew Lincoln.

In the area you drew glassing is the name of the game. South facing slopes will be very productive. Mountain onions, open grass ridges is a great food source during the spring. Open ridges with rocks, the size that a bear can flip easily. They will feed out early and late in the day in general. Access is sketchy after rain or if there is still snow. The roads are steep in places with sharp corners and it gets greasy. So it can be scary in a truck. If you have a four wheeler that would be helpful.

I typed "spring tactics" in the search function and came up with several threads.
