I've never hunted it but drove through the general area a few years ago. Great looking area but I was there mid summer and stayed down low out of elk territory.

Starting to build points in WY this year. Don't have a unit in mind but everything I've heard makes it seem like 38 will be worth a hard look in a few years.

Curious to see what you find out!

Yeah I been there.  8) Locals pretty proud of the area. No contest against my new home of Arizona though  :)

How many points do you have? If I had max or even near max I don't think 38 would be my first choice, but I'm not that familiar with that area either.

This is through at least a couple levels of hearsay, but I also heard that the Bighorn units haven't been hit as hard by wolves as some others regions, which bodes well for 38. Again, that needs at least a couple grains of salt.

Since were talking Wyoming has anybody been in the grey river drainage?  I've put in for the general tag in the state but steering towards that area.

I hunted Unit 40 in the Bighorns two years ago. Fish and game killed a wolf in that unit that had killed 30 sheep. Also talked to two different hunters who saw wolves. 2 cents worth.

Treestand, I have hunted 37 and 41 and love the Bighorns. All my research says that 38 is the place to be if you can draw it...

38 would not be my first choice for a big horns tag, Are you archery or rifle hunting? I spend a fair amount of time in 38 there is a good number of elk but also a good number of hunters. It gets hammered by the locals and its a general deer area so you will not find to much alone time in there, as long as the weather stays decent. The first few inches of snow those elk head into 40, 41 and down on the wildlife refuge
Never to far, Just grab another minute!
