First 700 First .257 wby

I have always been and will always be a Ruger #1 fan. I'm also a Weatherby cartridge fan. For years my go to has been a Ruger No. 1 chambered in .300 wby. amongst other ruger no. 1's in various calibers. Ive always wanted a .257 wby and a model 700. I just got my first 700, chambered in .257 wby. I like that Remington offered the model 700 with a 26" barrel. I don't mind the Vanguards but why would they only offer the .257 in a 24"?? Anyway, I have dies and some new Nosler brass and want to load up some 110 accubonds. I will be topping it with a Vortex Viper PST mrad 4-16x50. I am in the middle of debating wether I should go with some Talley or S&K mounts or a pictanny style rail? I don't plan on swapping scopes and I prefer not to have a rail but I am also planning on using this rifle for long distance shooting. Any tips or advice? Anyone using a Vortex PST? The mrad will be all new to me.

The 110gr Accubonds are a real performer from a 25-06, that 110gr in the Weatherby chambering should be stellar!

How did you choose to mount your pst? I prefer not to use a rail but if it is a better option I'm open. If I do a rail I would be considering a Wyatt box conversion. A buddy turned me on to Kampfeld Custom as well. I wouldn't mind having some work done to the bolt eventually, fluting and skeletonizing. I'd like to keep it as light as possible. Also has anyone any experience shooting Barnes TSX's? Ive read a few other threads where guys like the performance of that bullet too.

I used a one peace 20moa rail. It's mounted on my rem 700 sps varmint in 243.  Personally I love the rails and a one peace rail can add a little more strength to your action

Look at a Nightforce, 1 piece, 20 degree mount for the Remington 700. You should have enough internal adjustment to get back to a 100 yard zero. I just added the Nightforce 20 degree to my Remington 700 .300 Win Mag and Vortex Viper HS-T 4 - 16 X 44 and it shoots stellar groups. Should be good to about 1200 to 1300 yards right now.

I ordered Talley ring's and will give them a shot. I like the simple design and they are light weight. Anyone know anybody in the Gig Harbor/Tacoma area with 30mm lapping tools? I'd like to have then lapped before fully mounting. If I don't like the results I may try one of the other options you guys mentioned. Thanks

I have used 100 grain TSX at 3600 ft/sec with great results on deer and antelope. A friend has used them on elk successfully.. The 110 AB is another great bullet.

I like that deadnutz system. Wish I had seen that before I ordered the Talleys. I have 75 Nosler BT 100sp's, some new Nosler brass and some IMR 4831. Should I be good breaking it in with some handholds or should I buy some factory stuff?? I was thinking of loading up some lighter rounds to break it in.

MS, you can always send the Talley's back....I have 3-4 DEDNUTZ and use them whenever I can...
