Klikboom, that looks like horse poo to me.  :dunno: If not then that is the biggest bear scat pile I have ever seen, at least by a black bear.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Looks to me like he was right near a bedding area. I'd guess its multiple drop offs where the bear does his deed before bed or after waking up. I've found a few places where there is lots of poo in a timber/brush area and can usually find a bear bed within short distance.

I watched this bear drop this pile last weekend. I was 15 feet away and he never knew I was there..  Really nice bear but no tag...
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Check out the diameter of the cylinder extruded by this critter.  Very close to 2 3/4" diameter tailpipe.  Four inch ruler in the pic for scale.

Minutes old and he was likely watching me or at least listening to me when I found his scat and took the pic.




Truth in disclosure:  this was a little ways over the line into Canada.

As you know, most spring bear scat is green when it comes out and turns black after a little while exposed to air.  The green stage looks grosser than the black IMO.  This was late summer, near an oat field.
