seriously, if you're not selling the scope with it, take it off before you take the pics. One after another post  - pic shows a complete setup with a scope then $XXX.00 NO SCOPE

What kind of game is that?

Its all about presentation.

That and people probably don't want to have to remount, bore sight, and zero the scope just to take it off for a photo  ;)

I'm not sure why it's an issue, as long as they state in the ad that the scope is not included. What if the gun doesn't sell? They probably want to leave the scope on it in case they end up keeping it.

I never take mine off until the rifle sales.  If it doesn't and I end up keeping it then it is still sighted in.  Not sure why it is that big a deal.... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:  Am I missing something.

I am sure you could always through an offer out for the scope to be included.  Maybe the seller will bite and sell as a package.

As long as it's stated up front what isn't included it doesn't bother me. I've have however passed up many because the seller wouldn't separate a combo. No worries, there are other guns out there just takes a little more patience to find one at the price you're willing to pay sometimes.

If a scope has been mounted as it should be, the idea of removing it and then maybe having to put it back on, for me, would be alot of work, effort and time better spent....... ;).

I've never put on a scope that I felt was done properly that didn't take hours to complete and took no less than a gazillion adjustments while doing so.

I've also never sold a rifle without the scope attached and have always sold both to people that know me.  They never question the integrity of the mount and evidently feel that they'll get as good a shooter as this combination can produce.  Having said that, I would never purchase an attached scope/rifle combo without remounting that scope or replacing it and also mounting that one myself.

All in all, I wouldn't and shouldn't ever expect a seller to remove a scope for a picture and if they do.......I'd just consider it a plus for those that would prefer that.

OK, I guess it's unanimous...nobody but me is bothered by this.

I can tell you, though, the letdown when you read, "SCOPE NOT INCLUDED" After seeing the pic and price is enough to kill the excitement it takes to get someone to bite on your item.

Just sayin'...

Nobody wants to take the scope off without knowing if it will sell or not. Or maybe they want to use it still while it is for sale. Plus most rifles look better with a scope, unless you just have an ugly setup  :chuckle:

Usually if i decide to sell a rifle, the scope will stay with me, and the rifle is pictured as it will be sold. Many will spend a lot of coin for a high-end optic, they will not likely recover those dollars in increased selling cost.
Scopes are so varied, and have a large range of applications.  Most shooters have their preference and many prefer to set up the rifle how it suits them and their intended use.
For someone that simply wants a ready to hunt deer / elk rifle and basic 3X9 scope, the package deals available at retail stores are hard to beat.
Hunting- 99% waiting walking listening and looking, 1% stalking and shooting.  Just do it!

What your saying is you get the rifle and scope at the rifle only price and are dissapoineted when you don't. People here know the price of their firearms and optics. Like others have said the scope is not included in the price and the rifle is usually priced at a fair market, so don't be surprised when you don't get the scope for free. No dummies here.
