What type of boat was it. Did you catch or fish. I heard it was slow catching

That dumb a$$ was me :bash:

First time there, unfamiliar waters and  stopped paying attention for a short time and Bam...... we were stuck  :yike:

Stripped down to my boxers to get a rope to our other boat to tow us off,it as nervracking, that's for sure.

We did end up with 1 hali in the boat and I will let captain silver tell his story   :chuckle:

Sorry for the delay ... Pete and I were having great time ..... got out of the marina and headed to open water through the channel and as he was directing the other boat behind us to stay within the buoys we have ran on top of the  gravel bar ..... while the tide is going out .So the 10" of water is running from underneath us very fast and our partners in crime on the other boat are trying to get closer but its too shallow .  So we're tossing rope and the tide keeps it sucked in about 30' from the boat in the current .....it looked bad . Pete stripped his pants and got in the water in his underwear . We got lucky-managed to tie tennis ball ( that was on the gaff hook point) to my rod line and cast it toward them so we could attach thicker rope to it .Now we're in 4" of water with 18' boat and things are very bad .... it looked like we'd do 7hrs barbeque on top of the bar in the middle of the bay :-))))) We never lost cool and did rocked the boat while they pulled us out ....now the boat is running into the deep water at about 10mph with nobody in it ...... Pete managed to jump in at the last minute and then turned around and got me .

When we got on the open water heading to Hein bank the seas were rough and small craft advisory still in effect with forecast of 15-25knts wind . We decided to change plan and stay close to the shore .... we managed to get nice 46" hali into the boat at around 10 am :IBCOOL: ....but nothing after that and I must say Pete is the best gaffer there is - he stabbed the hali with the hook and liffted it up into the boat while I was screaming "DON"T LOOSE THAT FISH "  :chuckle:
The first picture was taken by me standing in the middle of the bay while Pete is turning around to get me and I'm screaming "JACK COME BACK"
Overall it was success ,everyone got 1/4 of my fish for some fish and chips .......
I let Pete to add to or change my version of the story ..... I for one had a blast even though my boots and pants were wet all day long ........ :chuckle: :chuckle:
Everyone thinks that I'm freak ,I don't look different do I ?

Nice fish!  Funny story Martin.  At least you didn't get wet on my boat.....   :chuckle:  Was that 46 inches or 46 pounds?  What did you get it on and how deep?

Nice fish- congrats

So, your secret is chasing bait from the shallows in BVDs?  :chuckle:

Good story for sure.
Probably served up better while munching fish and chips.

Anyone who hasn't had a mishap with a boat either doesn't own one or hasn't put enough time in.
I think everyone takes a turn in the barrel at least once...but in BVDs!  :yike: That is special.
All you were missing was a tourist boat to sail past - Don't look Martha! Ahh ha! Thats some funny stuff. :chuckle:

Thanks guys , I like fishing with Pete and yes things happen to the best of us ..... like not putting plug in ,leaving straps and brackets on ,heard story about someone running their boat  with trailer attached to it .....
You have to excuse my writing skills ,not like some story tellers on here ,just plain and dry ...
Pete had a scale on the boat and it weighted 47lbs .... the fish checker measured it 46" long and based on the table   http://www.iphc.int/publications/bulletins/lenwtimp.pdf it might weigh 46lbs = about right  :dunno:
We were jigging with 2&3 lbs bricks and got him in 180' of water on just spreader bar ,15" circle hook leader with green/white 6" hoochie upside down and piece of squid ..... no other scent used .
Everyone thinks that I'm freak ,I don't look different do I ?

Nice fish and good story guy's. Martin texted me the pic right after he caught it just to rub it in my face! I went to the Paine Field air show with my son that day so I didn't get to fish at all. I'm glad everything turned out good and that no one got hurt. I'm going to try to fish this weekend for shrimp and Hali's in area 6 or 7.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
