Something might be wrong with it, but we were shooting CCI stingers and the Federal value pack so that isnt too cheap

There must be something wrong with it. I have shot well over 500 rounds with out clean mine and it never missed a lick, same with the other 4 in my family. I have an Old marlin mod 60 that jams and it has a bent spring in it that I think is making it jam, you might want to look it over. :twocents:

I think 10/22s or overrated, my dad has one, and it jams all the time, and I do take good care of it.  I like lever actions, whether its Winchester or Henry, lever actions are good, and and fun to shoot.

somethings wrong with it or you're shooting cheap ammo as fast as you can pull the trigger.

my 10/22 jams about 1 out of 15 shots, it's done this since I bought it new at Bi-mart 10 yrs ago, i have tried all the brands of ammo out there, and nothing seems to help.
my brother bought his 10/22 when i bought mine, he bought the same scope and ammo also, unlike my 10/22 his fired fine out of the box and has never had more than a couple jams in 10yrs, hell when we would go shooting our 10/22's half the time he would shoot his gun and the other half the time he would be laughing at me because I got a P.O.S and am always trying to get the gun unjamed.

I also purchased one new that would jam all the time. It didn't matter what kind of ammo I used. I got rid of it. I do have a Weatherby MarkXX11 Auto. I purchased it around 1980? They don't make them anymore.  :) They make a bolt action thou.

IMHO, Best gun out of the box is the Remington 597.  I have the 22 Mag version with a Nikon 4x12 and it will shoot 1.5" groups at 100 yds all day.  I also have a 10/22 with Heavy barrel and it'll do great at 50 yds with CCI Greentag ammo but longer ranges are just too much.

If you want a semi-auto .22 you will NOT find a better gun than the 10/22. . .PERIOD!!!

That is the God's honest truth. . .they are bulletproof, not overly picky, VERY accurate right out of the box, and there is a huge aftermarket for them. . .if you can't buy a factory version of the 10/22 that suits your needs 100% then you are only a part or two away from getting there!!!

I have a few 10/22's that have been modded, aftermarket barrels, bolts, headspaced, and none will shoot with my bolt action CZ.

A 10/22 should not need headspaced???. . .normally anyway. . .

My 10/22 will shoot sub-MOA right out of the box!!! Factory stock, barrel, and internals. . .I've had it since the 8th grade (it was a graduation present) and my Dad and I used to have contest to see who could shoot the caps off of bottles without breaking the neck. . .or if it was a bottle already floating in the creek (we didn't put litter in the creek, but if it was already there or in a log jam we wouldn't have a problem shooting it) see how many times we could shoot it before it sank. . .we would just knock a small piece off each time and work our way down the bottle till it finally sank. . .

. . .the 10/22's can be EXTREMELY accurate. . .they have the capability of shooting more accurately than most people can actually shoot. . .

just my  :twocents:

I have no If you want to burn ammo at pop cans, 10/22.
If you want to shoot tiny groups, there are other ideas.

I disagree. . .see above. . .

With regards to jamming 10/22's. . .the only time my 10/22 has jammed has been when using sub-sonic ammo. . .any semi-auto would have problems with sub-sonic ammo not just the 10/22, but you can get a special bolt so that you can reliable shoot the sub-sonic ammo. . .

. . .and it jammed another time with a factory clip that had a worn out spring. . .that is it. . .

If you are using Stinger's you should know that the cases are longer than other .22LR cases. . .so there is an increased chance of having a jam if you are shooting Stingers out of a semi-auto. . .

. . .the ammo that you shoot in conjunction with the type of chamber that your rifle has will determine the likelihood of experiencing jams. . .with any semi-auto if you have a match chamber (actually a Bentz chamber for a semi-auto. . .semi-auto's are not made with a true match chamber) and the rifling extends all the way to the chamber you will not be able to reliably use cheap ammo or use Stingers either. . .also with the match chamber and full length rifling unfired rounds may not eject from the chamber. . .

. . .just some info for thought. . .

My 10/22 jams all the time, from the regular stovepipes that happen at least 1 out of 20 shots, to a fairly new factory mag breaking.

My dad bought me that gun when I was 15, so it has some sentimental value and I don't want to get rid of it, but I rarely even bother with it because its so unreliable.

Can anyone refer me to a good gunsmith in the seattle area that won't hose me?
