Deer, Bear, Elk, Cougar
« on: January 05, 2009, 07:15:14 PM »
Thought I would post some of my trail cam shots from this last August up at our elk camp in the Blues.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

My buddies have a cabin down in the blues. One year they had a bear come in and tear the door off the crapper and dig into the corn puddin.

I believe it.  They're thick up there.  In 2004 I hunted three days and saw 4 bears.

They almost got it back together after the school house fire destroyed it. I used to go down there often, but haven't since they rebuilt the cabin. Several years ago we went hunting down there and when we got up the next morning to go hunting my buddy realized he left his boots at home. He hunted the whole week in sandals. Good thing it was early archery. I think he leaves a pair of boots down there year round.

Well, it WAS a busy camera, until hunting season started.  I muffed a shot at a spike on opening day of archery elk (spooked when I drew on him, ran a few yards and stopped.  I guessed at the yardage and wiffed an arrow under his belly-shot for 35, ranged it later at 45 :bash:, )didn't see another living animal on that trail for the rest of the elk season.
Sat out there with my boy for several days trying to get him a shot at one of the bears, but saw nothing.  Think I will go to a treestand next year.  Get our scent up off the ground a bit.

Grizz that is nasty...
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Ditto.  But I am going to start using the phrase "corn pudding" from now on if it isn't copyrighted.  That's some creative phraseology there..
