Kenetrex Bridger Ridge Hiking boots - Anyone using them?
« on: June 01, 2015, 09:58:22 AM »
I'm in the market for a lightweight hiking boot for summer scouting trips and day hikes with the family.  The reviews I've found on-line indicate these boots may have a quality of workmanship issue.  I'm looking for feedback from forum members who are using these boots.  How are these boots holding up?

I tried out a pair my friend had and I dont think they are as comfortable as my Merrells. They are lightweight tho. Made in China if that matters to you.

first off I love kenetrek boots, I have many miles on my mountain extremes, so when I was looking for something a little lighter for summer hiking I ordered a pair of these.... disappointed to see the made in china label, same thing that happened with my danners years ago, I have had them for about 7 months and used them a lot on my spring bear hunt this year, they are already starting to come apart in the toe and around the heal area, same problems you see with most boots sporting the same label.  you can get the same quality at a much lower price going with a different brand.

I bought a pair of the mid's off of Camofire about 3 months ago... What a great boot! They have a little over 100 miles on them so far and still feel GREAT! Not a single blister yet. I haven't had a day where I needed to get them off immediately after a hike like some others I've had. Until last Saturday... about 4 miles from camp, stepped in a sink hole to my calf... I will tell you they are by no means water proof(but they stayed snug enough I still didn't get any blisters on the hike back, just a little uncomfortable being hot and moist)! I wouldn't say much is waterproof at that depth, but even wet grass does start to seep in, these will only be summer time hikers. I have thought of getting a second pair off Camofire because they look sharp for work, feel great and even at buying two pairs, it's cheaper than one pair at full price from Sportsman's warehouse. Obviously the made in china was a drawback, but my budget isn't huge and if it's comfortable and holds up I guess I can handle it...
