Only a rumor but......
« on: June 01, 2015, 05:47:10 PM »
A friend was talking to someone from WDFW yesterday and he was told that there was an 80% chance that all High Hunts in Chelan County will be closed this year due to drought. Nothing is confirmed but thought I would pass it on.

I would be surprised. The feds would probably have to close the wilderness areas for that to happen.

I'm not sure why closing the deer season would be necessary, because of the lack of snowfall this past winter. Makes zero sense.

I agree. There are already fires restrictions in many high hunt areas, there is no reason to restrict non-motorized access.

 :yeah:

Agree with both you guys..would make zero sense. I have no idea what the drought would have to do with the High Hunt.

There are significant high hunt access areas in the Entiat area and other closures in the Swakane areas(Chelan County) that are closed to human entry, but not because of a lack of water.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Hey, I never claimed it to be fact. Just telling you what I was told.  Makes for good discussion only.  But I seem to remember it being closed once before many years ago.  Am I wrong?

It is thought of as irreplaceable in terms of a human life span.  Some of these aquifers were built during the ice ages over thousands of years, and are being withdrawn from at a rate that far exceeds their recharge rate, which in the case of some of the aquifers in NV, AZ and TX, is close to zero.  Some people refer to this as water mining.

Newman Lake is not closed. Do you have a brother by the name of cssaphil?
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.
