The season this year is Oct 10-15.  I can't wait!!

The crazy thing is that I think my hunting group is going to pull a WY deer tag this year...  That season starts OCT. 1st.    It could be a busy fall.   I'm going to give this moose tag my best effort, that's for sure. :)

I'm super excited and I'm glad I get to share another moose hunt with dad.

Time to break out the .32 special again...

Points are kind of irrelevant because as a nonresident you can purchase multiple chances.   I buy a few  "blocks" each year.  One block is 10 chances and it sells for $55.  I've put in consistently since around 2010.  Before that some years I would and other years I wouldn't.  They do give you a point every year you put in, but if you skip two years of putting in you lose that bank of points.

Congrats Miles. Looking forward to seeing what you get.

Congrats!  I drew Maine moose in 2001 and haven't drawn since. Enjoy and good luck!

I drew in area 10 but stayed at a lodge in area 5.  I Shot a representative bull the first day (around 45").  A buddy was drawn in unit 5 a couple years later, I went with him and he tagged out the first day also.

This year I took the point, I have a BC hunt that would of conflicted.

Do you buy the blocks of 10 points?  What unit did you draw?

Good luck on the hunt. The fall is awesome in Maine.

Where did you grow up? I'm from Millinocket, Maine originally and hunted the north woods and around Parkman.

I'm from a small town in New Hampshire called Errol.  It's about 8 miles from the Maine line.  I've hunted a lot around Rangeley, Grafton notch, and the surrounding areas.  I did live in Mexico, Maine for a short period when I was very young.  Being so close to the line we always hunted both states.

Bigelk, yes I always buy a couple blocks each year.  I drew WMD 12.  It borders the unit my dad had last year and he has seen a couple very large bulls in unit 12.  I changed my first choice to 12 this year and can't believe I actually got it.  Only 3 nonresidents can hunt the zone I have.

Yes, great job, the odds are really long, I was drawn on my first try then not again since 2001. Good luck and I will be watching for your hunt story.
