In the field I always feel like I can do no wrong and it takes .5 seconds to get a good shot off. Yes, yes I know delusions of grandeur especially when I liver shoot a bull at a few feet
IMO trying to time yourself and be as fast as possible can eventually lead to target panic. And that can be very hard to recover from. I think the best thing is to shoot a ton and worry about proper bow fit, form and release. It may seem slow now, but when everything is engrained into your subconscious and the moment of truth comes, it will all happen automatically and will be much quicker and accurate than trying to force the shot to happen quickly.
shoot a pop up 3d and you will get a idea of your speed .
My I'd takes about one second ! It's off and running. Practice both and drawing early and holding .
