I located a nice group a few days ago, one nice one I figure will go mid 170's.

 You will be okay.

No worries, I got a text from someone today that said they saw them glassing and stopped to talk. They were looking for a 185" ram.......so they will be there until the end of the year. :chuckle:

On another note, perhaps one of the very few successful programs WDFW have put together, besides the whole turkey program and maybe one or two more, the sheep transplant from Clemens to the Butte has turned out great. The sheep really took off and grew rapidly, creating a fantastic trophy hunt for hunters and sheep watching for the general public.

For a few years a few of us had been asking for a "ear tag" hunt, to give another hunter a OIL opportunity and not simply watch as these older class, non breeding rams, die of old age on the Butte, and at the same time create revenue for the program.

We had hoped that WDFW could come up with a hunt, but limit it to a special group, youth, disabled etc. and NOT at the same time open it up to additional hunting, ie raffle and auction. Certainly they write the rules and could have done it while at the same time restricting it to maintain the quality of the herd...............but it seems that is not the case.

I guess my disappointment with WDFW caving to revenue generation as priority one once again shouldnt come as a shock, my faith in them doing anything without seeing dollar signs is finished! :twocents:

Sounds like the Butte is next to get shot out.  Really too bad first Manson then hall then the Butte.

I was under the impression the raffle tags couldn't hunt any sheep unit unless there was more than one tag?

You are correct, but... due to an oversight from the dept. the way it is currently worded, the new disabled tag counts as the second permit issued for Chelan Butte.  Thus, the raffle guy, and auction tag guy can hunt the Butte this year.
