100 yard bow shot, interesting link with data
« on: July 06, 2015, 02:23:35 PM »
Here you go. This gets discussed often enough. This quick read has interesting numbers on a real world hunting arrow, time of flight, KE, and a bit more.

Kind of sums up my thoughts on 100-yard shots. Good quick read.

It does nt say weight/grain of arrow..  Also having shot 100y I dont think arrow drops 10ft.  I think its closer to 5-6ft.  Not saying shot should be taken but in perfect scenario it is a shot that can be made by some.  264 and 67 are good #'s to kill.

Interesting, not the loss of speed or energy I would have expected.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

My fastest WA legal bow has over 16.9' of drop at 100 yards.  (The same drop as my .338WM at 875 yards!)

The flattest shooting bow I have drops 15.05' at 100 yards. (845 yards with .338WM)

Only 10' of drop is flat out impressive.  Assuming someone can actually shoot it worth a dang when it's not in a Hooter Shooter :chuckle:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

:yeah:  I was wondering about that.  I shot out to 96 yards (just trying to hit the target  :chuckle: ) and I swear that arrow was darn near 20' in the air  :yike:

First time I shot past 80 I was like, "c'mon...drop...drop...DROP!"

A 101 yard shot is part of the shooting round for a Safari shoot. Plenty of shooters put it in the kill.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Looks like Im wrong.  Across the field it only seems I aim maybe few ft above target at most.  Suppose arrow flight (arc) isnt the same. Now I want to go target shoot!
