Humpy Report Thread: 2015

I limited out on humpies Sunday evening at Keystone...buzz bombing from the shore. All were smallish males in the 2-1/2 to 3 pound range.

Fished reef point on Friday. Landed 3 pinks and 1 coho. We were only at 32' and 45'.

I was wondering when the first coho would show.  Fished there Thurs and Sat.  Saturday all of our fish were at 92' in 95-105 feet deep, but no coho.

Limited (pinks) for three of us by ten today at Eagle Point, had to release two short Kings.     Seems the larger fish are finally starting to show.  One male today even had a hump starting.

sunday at browns point ,landed one lost one at the boat and had a couple more spit the hook

How important is the tide when fishing pinks?

Depends on location but it matters.  Tide pretty much always matters.

So, what tide is best when fishing for Pinks?   

I am headed back to Cornett Bay / San Juans for 9 days with some family from New Mexico.  I would sure love to see them catch a pink or two!  Are they still up in the islands or already south?

I always found incoming to be best, but others might have different experiences.  Seemed like they wanted to get into the newly wetted areas to get any kind of shrimp or worms that may have come up to the surface while the tide was out.

When are you headed up Brian?  The fish will be coming until at least the end of the month. You can fish  west beach on the tail end of the flood until slack, they will catch fish. That's the part of the tide that's been the best for me.  Good luck!

They like the color pink and shrimp.

No difference from my experience off Eagle Point.  Seems best on incoming off Reef Point, Cypress. 

Tons of pinks still off San Juan, the coho should start showing pretty soon, especially since we'll have to watch the Indians net the wild coho we have to release after Aug 1.    

Landed a nice 7 pound Sockeye out there today as a bonus.
