Sherman GMU101 Deer (Archery)
« on: July 27, 2015, 01:55:44 AM »
Scouted for bear in Sherman this whole last year, plenty of them there.  Didn't see as many deer as I expected, any of y'all have any experience in this unit with deer?  I'm mostly paying attention to this area with intent of filling my east side bear tag but figured I'd thump a deer if I saw him.  Any info on this unit helps!  Thanks all.

Lots of bear in 101.  Get away from roads and trails and glass glass glass.  I have no exp with deer there.

The LATE season for deer here is the best. Especailly if you can bait them.  I live in the 101 and we have some pigs here if you can find them. Sherman Pass is mainly mule deer from what I always see when I go over it. Not saying there aren't any whitetails there.

Predator calls work great for bear.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Lots of bear, mule deer, and whitetail in that unit. We mostly hunt out private property but have seen lots of nice mule deer and whitetail on public land.

Talking to a taxidermist with a 39" Mulie on his wall from on Sherman. Lots of pictures of other giants. Including 2 racks his buddies got over 40"s. They're there, just gotta find em. I've noticed lots and lots of spikes and forked horns this year. Should be great hunting in a couple years! Trying for Mulie, bear, and elk all in the same area this year. Public land too!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen
