My brother in law drew 23n early archery and was claiming it came out of there. Hunted that unit a few years back and saw some toads in there. Nothing quite that big though.

i have twenty years into applying for arizona.  23n or south is going to be my choice as well for archery.  Id like to get your opinion on the unit if u dont mind maybe after your brother in laws hunt.

Heard it was shot in 23N. Any truth to that? Great bull but not into the velvet on elk.

Not trying to derail this thread but I love when every year a big bull gets killed on a governors tag and people come out and blast on the ethics of hunting elk in velvet, yet the same internet police have no issue with hunting mule deer in velvet. I guess the reason is there typically are no open seasons on elk prior to shedding velvet Oh and ridgefire I'm not accusing you of questioning his ethics or anything your comment about not being into elk velvet just reminded me

dandy bull but why cant he stand next to the thing instead of 5 feet behind it? It would still look huge...

He really isn't standing that far behind it, the other side is actually pretty close to his body the bull is just really wide and really huge!

I also am not a big fan of elk in velvet, I prefer them hard horned, however to each his own. I do like mule deer in velvet though!

It's a nice bull and congratulations are in order to both the guide and the hunter. I'll start a new topic some other time to discuss ultra wide lenses and the pseudo long arm effect to not jack the OPs thread.

Great bull! Maybe he already has a 430 hard horn and he needed one in velvet.

Just curious here, but with that elk being in Velvet, was he done growing or could he have been bigger as a hard horned guy?

Incredible bull, you don't see many 430 typical 6x6's!

I too am not a fan of velvet, but to each their own.     The hunter paid the dough to harvest an animal, he can do whatever he likes.  That being said, I'd sure love to see that thing hard horned so you can compare apples to apples - probably loses a few inches without the velvet, but still...maybe a 420" 6x6?  That's nuts!
