Mine is so empty that we are defrosting it tonight.  Good thing I'll be trying to fill it next week.

Mine isn't empty anymore but it's not as full as I'd like.  Shot a doe that I wish was a little bigger.  Oh well.  Got some steaks and burger now.  Time to get into gear for my 2 son's Foster Creek doe tags and that trip next month.

nope I have had very generous friends and huntwa people sort of perpetually keep me in some sort of game meat. I have a bit of antelope and some elkburger left.  I currently don't have my freezer I left it behind and just took my meats.

I have about 12 pounds of ground deer left, and I just got a nice bear. My son will shoot his first deer this October and me a buck as well. I'll have a few hundred pounds of meat to get us through till next year.

Sounds like a good problem to have.

Nope ;)
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Nope ;)

Saw your thread.  Good on ya!  Your looks bigger than mine though :(

Good news is though, I got mine from field to freezer with only one non-bleeding nick in my ring finger!

After not hunting last year, my freezer has one steak and 3lbs of burger left.  First deer I see this year that I think I can get 50lbs of meat off of is hitting the dirt.  One of these years, between my boys and I, we'll have enough meat in the freezer the following season where I'll feel like I can be a bit more selective.

Anyone else popping the first legal deer they see?
I want to shoot a buck this year but if I start running out of time and see a nice white tailed doe (which I doubt where I will be hunting) I will shoot one. I also have late season to hunt so we will see what happens. I have never killed an elk and that is one thing that needs to change.

I've only ever seen 2 elk in my life, a cow and a calf, in June.  I also want to shoot one.  I was going to go out this weekend but I'm not sure if I'll actually make it out or not.

Only have a couple lake trout my daughter caught... looks like I'll be empty unless I pull off a miracle during late season.

I still have about 15 lbs of elk steaks, 10 lbs of venison, 20 lbs of steaks and roasts left over from my buffalo I got last year and lots of salmon.
Hunting is always an adventure, always enjoy your time in the woods or in the field!
