HAHA WDFW - Multi-season Deer Permits - 2000 Remaining
« on: September 08, 2015, 05:29:12 PM »
Suckers... I just got an e-mail talking about how they (WDFW) have 2000 multiseason permits remaining that anyone can go and purchase.

I'm not buying one this year.  I think it would be hilarious if they didn't sell out.  They would have to offer over the counter then and we wouldn't have to worry about their stupid revenue generating draw anymore.

It's very unusual for the deer to sell out.

But seems no deadline then this year.  So maybe after early archery has passed, the bow guys that were close but didn't connect will buy for early muzz, and so forth--after late modern guys could get one and try a few more weeks with a muzzy.  Might actually have a chance to sell out.

Why do you think they'd go over the counter if they don't sell out?

I suspect it will stay just the way it is.      :dunno:

I got the same email, but I will be pissed off if an archery guy is trying to fill his deer tag messes up my elk hunt now that the season is the same.   So what was the explanation behind all the non draws for the permit?

So, do I get my application money back since people that never bought an application can now buy one Otc basically at a discount?

But muzzy deer and elk didn't, it used to be a week earlier.

I received the same email and called WDFW. The email went out to individuals that put in for it. I have my archery tag and wasn't drawn for the multi season and I am debating on whether or not to get it. If you weren't drawn you won't lose your points if you buy now... which makes me feel this is not fair to the guys who got drawn and lost their points. Seems a few thousand guys could have waited and saved points... I might purchase the tag just to be able to fill one this year.  Or, I will trade a $180 in labor for a good archery hunting place ;)

Could get rather spendy if you roll into their game . If a guy buys all his tags and then buys a multi tag and then buys a discover pass and the buys a access permit from Weyerhaeuser and then he doesn't kill anything , that could be catastrophically a pocket burner ...hahaha

8500 deer permits were available, and it ended up being something like 50% draw odds this year right??  So roughly 17000 applicants.  So the 2000 leftover were all from people who drew, but didnt want it.  Ridiculous.  I really wish people would stop applying for things they wont buy, or wont use, just so they can feel like they won something.

I applied but did not receive an e-mail, I checked to see if it was available to purchase but it was not. I wouldn't buy one at this point as I want to use it to apply for special permits.

The individuals who were drawn (and lost their points) had the opportunity to apply for special permits in all three hunting method categories in the May drawing. If you buy now you won't get that benefit.

I didn't put in for multi season deer and I got the email.

If you wait to purchase leftover tags,  you lose the opportunity to put in for the quality tag options for different weapons.

Yeah, I just figure they'll go over the counter because they'll sell more.  Why have a draw for something their is not enough demand for?

I just hope that this makes it fairly obvious that they need to improve their offering.  Either reduce the price, or make it open to anyone before the drawing period, or as others have mentioned, make it good for an additional animal.  Regardless, people aren't really biting at the current offering.

I just love watching their revenue generators struggle...  Makes me feel like less of a puppet.

I've bought one every year, not this year.... cutting my expenses.

Obviously there's more demand than available permits, that's why the draw odds were only a little better than 50%.

Sounds like demand for the applications was high...maybe not the actual $140 permit

I think they are, but I would encourage you not to buy one... just to "stick it to the man"  You already paid for a deer tag, now with $130 additional for the same one deer is it worth it?

I've bought it the last couple of years so I have no room to talk...

I think that people were just applying to keep their option to buy open, so they could consider it later.  For $6.50 it was a cheap way to keep options open.  I think a lot of people then looked at the cost and their plans and decided that it was too expensive after buying the rest of their tags.   :dunno:

But the demand for the apps was high before the special permit draw.  If they went OTC before the draw would people buy them up faster and in greater numbers?  After special permit draws are posted, there are some posts on here about "was selected for multi, but drew X unit so now I won't be purchasing the multi" and such.

They should just let us apply for all permits (standard # of draws apply) regardless of weapon and enforce only one weapon type if they wanted to make more money.  It is a lottery anyway.

Yup

this must've recently changed-
Hubby decided he wanted one but  since he hadn't  put in for one  before the draw they said he wasn't eligible. that was after the clerk at Sportco wrote  a big VOID on his tags then had to spend 20 minutes figuring out how to re-print them.

I tried yesterday and could not get the multi-season because I did not put in for the lottery. Would have been nice. I understand doing this for Elk but deer should be any weapon. Buy the tag and hunt the seasons until tag is filled. Ridiculous state!
