That's on her, she doesn't want to go half the time.
It sucks cause I was literally headin back to the truck and wasnt really trying to be quiet or anything, then BAM jumps right in-front of me and just stands there in neck high grass. Went from 0 to 60 in like 2 seconds. First time I got a rush from a deer.

I dont know what that means lol.

They did, but they should have just kicked the field goal.

I hunted three years before getting my first bow deer, threw a lot of arrows.  I even missed a doe seven times from a tree stand, and she was standing on my yardage markers.   :yike:

Keep at it, it'll work out.

Its the stories and just being out there that makes hunting great.  Sounds like a good time.  Normal to have bad luck.  Don't rush shots.  Don't worry about not getting time to shoot.  Take time focus relax.  I do that by expecting the animal to move so when I get the chance to target its in a relaxed state.  Plus I think if your spotted and move/act slow and relaxed the animal doesn't spook as easily vs rushed excited state.  I also don't look em in the eyes.  I think they think they are hidden if you pretend you don't see em.  Dunno if its true but works well for me. I know I missed a lot over the years for silly reasons.

I look at moments like this as being a reason to keep going out. There is a lot of time left in the season and late season. Good luck!

Yeah I never rushed any of the shots, I remember it all happened so fast. The deer jumped up and stared at me, all in about the time of 1-2 seconds I was like, crap it sees me - do i move - do i nock an arrow - what do i do what do i do? Then I just kept my eyes locked on hher and started moving my bow into position, the deer just stood there. I got the bow up and put the arrow where I thought his body would be through the grass.. Let it fly, Dont remember if it went over or under or what, The only arrow I found was one that stuck about 3 inches into a tree on the 3rd shot, managed to get the arrow back but that broadhead was long gone. After the 3rd shot, It was about 40 yards away, I pulled the binos out to see if I could see any blood because it was acting weird after the first shot, ran down behind a tree, turned around, came back toward me, turned left and walked perfectly broadside to me. Never seen any blood or even spots of fur that look like it was abnormal. Left me with enough time to get another arrow out, concentrate, conciously made sure my bubble was level, my grip was loose, slipped the trigger and high and to the left. wtf? at this point I KNEW my sight was off because I had it dead on the heart when i released. The last shot I compensated alittle too much and it went right into the ground under her. At that point I felt defeated, hour+ away from home, no more arrows or bheads, still only 12 at that point, then thats where I started stomping around looking for arrows, kicking 4ft high grass back and forth trying to find my bright orange wraps... and that was just it, it was a wrap from there.

Kick yerself! I passed a nice 5x and a small- average 6x the day after the opener. Holding out for the 7. That's bowgunting bud. You'll get your stick wet soon. Hang in there. It's Elk season, leave the deer alone!

Rangefinder?  Judging distance can be tuff in open/closed areas.  After I missed a 7pt bull I purchased one.  But ya, bowhunting.  Its all fun.  Kills end your time out there so be happy.
