That close as he took a step to turn I would let it go.  I have gotten two with that method and it works. Never lost an elk with that technique.

I have taken that shot. Once on a spike bull and once on a bear. Both at 20 yards. The bear is on the wall and the spikes skull I s in my skull pile in the barn

Yes!  I did this shot on a bear as well, mine was at 10 yards though and I was below him.  Arrow came out in front of his off side leg... and that was almost thirty years ago with a much inferior bow to what I shoot now.

I'd wait if he was a bit more sideways though.

:yeah: that's such a sick shot. Seen it before and it never gets old. And personally I'd take it.

I just passed on that shot last Sunday. Had a bull at 30 yards looking right at me. Passed that shot and then tried for a 40 yard broadside shot. Missed that shot as it was more like 44-45 yards. So, given the chance to have a do over I still am not sure I would have taken the frontal shot. 20 yards and inside I would have though.

30 yards or less I would take it in a heartbeat.  Have to know where to put it though folks.

Reminds me of this shot, Looks pretty fatal to me..  :dunno:
Probably one of the quickest deaths I've ever seen on a bow kill.
