Any high buck hunt success?
« on: September 20, 2015, 08:37:38 AM »
My neighbor got back from the Paysaten Thursday. He went with his two sons and one of their friends. He is 70 years old and still hiking like no bodies business!!
They got 2 bucks, one a 4 pt. about 24" wide and a bear. Not a bad hunt I thought!
Anyone else hear or have success??

Surprised no pics have been posted, my dad came out Thursday.  Saw quite a few bucks, biggest he got on was a 165-170 typical but he's older and has a more mature trigger finger than myself.. General season is more fun anyways :-)

The crew I usually go with both got good bucks, missed a bear and had a cougar harassing them while gutting deer. They shot it but couldn't find it. Wish I would have gone now.

With the Entiat, Chiwawa and Railroad drainages closed (Wolverine fire) it was really slow north of US 2.  Most of the bucks were from the Alpine unit where High hunters shared the area with archery elk hunters.  We provided drop camp packing for both.  I will see if I can get permission to post some of the pics; I have photos of 6 of them so far.

Wow, congrats. Both are nice bucks. Muleracks what wilderness areas do you provide services for? I went into the Pasayten this year & had a great time on foot. Passed on two smaller 4pts & a good size 3 pt. We did a lot of hiking, which I was fine with, but the buddy I was with said next year he wanted to look into a drop camp. Rough ballpark how much is a drop camp?

I ran into your crew & they told me that story. They were great guys. Tell them thanks again for the smoked salmon and tell them we ran into that bear they took a shot at. We watched it go 50 yrds below us, roughly a 450 lbs bear. We were  to far back in on foot to deal with a bear of that size, so we passed on shooting it.
