Now that early archery has ended...
« on: October 01, 2015, 04:18:01 PM »
I'm wondering how everyone did for blacktail? Seems like a lot more travelers east for mulies and whitetail. We were NW, covered some ground and saw no daytime bucks at all, plenty of does. Any blacktail buck reports that I haven't caught here yet? Guess I'm wondering how many blacktail hunters are staying here on the westside?

I got mine.   :IBCOOL:  brother got his.  First deer I saw was a buck.  Right place right time is all it takes.  Still a lot of late season.  The Bucks will be out then for sure.

I hunted early, and will be hunting late, on the west side. I didn't see any bucks, only does while driving to my spots. Lots of miles and zero shooting opportunities. I would have happily shot a doe if I had a chance.

I know for the few friends that I have that hunt on the westside they don't target deer until late season since they don't want to waist the time to field dress and move the deer when they could be stocking elk.

Yep, learning that an early archery buck is a gift, late season those boys are more reckless coming into the open and probably bigger racks too.

Buddy shot his first deer with a bow. just the tiniest button buck but gotta start somewhere. hunted probably 7 days total and saw 24 BT's opening day but one was a masher 2 point i mean outside its ears and little bit taller then the ears. anyway bumped him in the same spot TWICE even after glassing the spot for and hour before continuing on and sure enough was there and took off so i kinda have a grudge for him. Not too concerned because i have late season in eastern. So that's my season second year bow hunting so i guess it inst too bad.

Hey Cougar -

Did you guys get those deer on public land? I wanted to know if Trillium is worth hunting when it opens.
