choosing between two rods

I'm picking up a new steelhead rod. A guy i know can get it at cost for me. The G loomis E6X 9'6" ml or the shimano clarus 10'. What are your opinions?  Thanks

 Bobber/jig combo I prefer to have very long rods that allow you to mend the line and keep it out of the water.

Shimano own's G-Loomis.  It depends on what you want to achieve.  Buy both if he gets them at cost and sell the one you don't use or like.

You may get a lighter rod in the Loomis, but any extra sensitivity you pay for with a big name rod isn't necessary when fishing bobbers. My float rods are all 10'6" so I'd take the longer one.

Neither. I'd do a lamiglas redline 8-12. 9'6
Perfect spine. And easier to afford.

Bought a clarus and broke it on the second trip out... Not pleased with their rods at all.....

I agree.  I've fished a lot of bobber/jig gear and 10.6 is really the minimum rod length for me.  Not sure if they still make it as I've been out of that business for awhile, but Shimano used to make a Canadian Custom Series rod for not a lot of money.  It was sure one heck of a rod.  Worth twice the price! 

Of course I'm partial to Lamiglas after selling them for years.  Still think the Vedder with Fuji Concept guides is the best bobber rod I have ever used!

10 foot is not long enough for a bobber rod.

I used an Allstar spinning rod, 10 1/2 foot, rated for 8-12 lb line for my float rod.   Worked good on silvers up at the Cascade and also used it in the Samish for kings.  I forgot the chums in the Sky.  Never found anything it couldn't handle.

Think my current float rod is 10'6, but I also like the 11'2 Loomis bobber rod for steel
