Hi my names Josh, new to elk hunting specifically. I've hunted deer all my life and have always bought an elk tag in the off chance one walked out while hunting for deer. Anyways, this'll be the first year I specifically target them. So basically I'm looking for any advice (i.e. What works best, best time to go, best calls to use when, scents if any, etc. ) I'll be hunting in western washington, modern firearm season (November) thank you in advance.

If your rifle hunting I'm not sure of a season that deer and elk are at the same time so be careful and Reed the regs....with that being said I think archery/ muzzleloader has the best dates to hunt as you get to hunt the pre rut and rut....rifle season your going to have to burn boot leather unless you just get very lucky driving around from cut to cut...if it looks to thick and nasty to walk through then chances are the elk are in there...good luck with your season

Any scents work that late, or not really worth it?

Scents that late in the year are probably best used as a cover scent...most big bulls are split off from the herds by then...the occasional cow call while walking in the timber may help disguise you and may even bring them in but not like it would in sept/ early oct

Pretty much only as a cover scent.  The bulls are way done with the rut by then and hunkered down in the steepest, thickest stuff they can find as they've been pushed around by the archers and muzzle loaders already.
Cow calls can sometimes be effective to either help locate them or make them think you're an elk and keep them calm if you know they're in the area.  Sometimes, if they aren't spooked and haven't winded you, you can cow call and get them to hang around long enough to get a shot off.
