Just a thaught
« on: November 08, 2015, 06:02:38 PM »
I have been helping a friend with a 224 late tag and we have been busted twice while on stalks by "non hunters" (I guess you,d call them because they don't hold a tag). I get it, guys want to go out and see deer but you have to remember there are some folks that are actually out hunting and hold a tag that they may never be lucky enough to get drawn for again. First one we were coming out of a 4 mile walk into an area that we spent close to 7 hours hunting, got back to the rig and headed back to get some food. Low and behold we spot a nice buck that that was bedded and looked good, we pulled over, dropped over the bank and put the optics on him, a nice buck,4 by 5 with eyeguards and about 27 to 28 wide, at about 150 yrds. My buddy was getting set up when we heard a rig pull up about 100 feet away and just around a corner where they couldn't see us. Doors slammed, talking loud and scrambeling for cameras and binos I guess :dunno: kicked the buck over a knob in a hurry! No one had a tag, they were just out looking they said :bash:. 2nd one was close to the same so I wont get into details but once again, non tag holders. I really do get it to a point, but remember their are folks out hunting this time of year, we are hiking into spots that are miles in and we are still hunting when we are getting from point A to point B in our rigs. I myself scout, take pics and love to see deer but try to do it either in areas where I,m pretty sure no one is in or wait til the seasons are over. I never would have braught this up if it didn't happen twice in 2 days....Once again, just a thaught. :)

Really, here that everyone? Everyone without a valid tag, clear out of the woods. While road hunting, someone missed a opportunity. Can't believe what I just read.

WOW! and,
yes sir, you can believe it. Like I said, I do it too(scout and look for animals) but try to be considerate to the point there may be someone hunting in the area, just down the bank or behind a tree this time of year. I don't slam doors and make enough noise to spook a bunch of deer like they were shot out of a cannon at 150 yards away. Maybe you ARE one of those guys :dunno:. Sorry to ruffle your feathers and for your information I,m kind of partial to anyone whose NOT a democrat! Once again, sorry to p*ss in your cornflakes :hello:

Love it. Road hunter complaining about road nonhunters.

Keep at it. Keep a positive attitude and it will be a great hunt BBD or not.

Bigmacc, I get it. You would think the odds of that happening on a permit hunt would be low, but apparently not low enough? I think you qualified yourself as not purposefully road hunting being that you spent the better part of the day on foot. Pretty sure most "non road hunters" would still try to capitalize on an opportunity that presented itself on the drive out if legal to do so.

One would hope that non-permit holding people that hunt and understand what's going on during this time of year would be cognizant of what they were doing and how it may effect others. Unfortunately hunting public land is a lot like posting on a public forum.
