On the way to school
« on: January 20, 2009, 04:25:45 PM »
Saw a yote in one of our pastures this morning while taking the kids to school. My oldest girl (12) wouldn't let it go, so we went back to the house and grabbed the 22-250. Long story short she made a great head shot at 150 yards. We had to hustle to make it to school on time and then I picked them up after school and we went out and took a picture of her first yote! Now, my ten year old wants her turn!

That is pretty cool. I hope my girls end up like that. They are about the same age difference too. I guess I have to wait a couple years the oldest turns 3 next weekend the youngest is still in diapers.  :chuckle:

That is a great picture of a great moment!  I miss those days.  My daughter loved to hunt, was a pretty decent athlete, (is going to college on a full ride for softball), homecoming queen, and good student, and above all a good person.  They grow up FAST!  Enjoy every moment like that one.  We are going to Spokane this Saturday to watch my son wrestle, then plan to hunt our way back on Sunday.  Hope to find some places to hunt over by Spokane....

Thanks for the comments everyone. The muzzle break is an adjustable "boss" that came stock with this Win mod 70 feather weight. It was a Browning patent and they still have them on some Browning models. By adjusting the Boss you can fine tune barrel vibration and get incredible accuracy from even factory loads. This rifle literally shoots in the same hole at 100 yards! So does my 300. win mag in the same model. They make a lot of noise but (after fine tuning) they are the most accurate out of the box rifle I have ever found. We use ear protection and both of my girls took their deer this year using my .300. It has almost no recoil. They each have their own rifles but prefer to shoot these two because they are so accurate.

Yep, without ear protection it well ring your bell. Sure is accurate though. Did you fine tune yours? What kind of accuracy are you getting?
