Icon Pro 3200 as day pack

So I'm working my way through packs and $ trying to figure out what works for me.  I grew up hunting white tail in Pennsylvania and just getting started out here in the PNW.  I'm honestly not used to hiking around as much as I do here so figuring out what I pack on a daily basis has been eye opening for my first season.

So far I've tried a Nimrod butt pack system (works great for close in black tail hunts I've found so far), Eberlstock X1 (works OK for longer trekking days elk or blacktail but lacks the ability to pack out something on the first load when successful, and Mystery Ranch Crew Cab.  The crew cab I only tried on in the living room and it's going back.  Bombproof pack but it's just way more than I need. 

So far  my plan is only day hunting (rifle and archery).  Leave the truck or camp at first light and be back by dark.  I just want the ability to bring out a quarter or something worthwhile on my way back to the truck to get a pack frame.  I can see me overnighting at some point but not too concerned about that at this point.

My next attempt is going to be an Icon Pro.  I'm just debating between the 1850 and 3200.  I'm wondering if the 3200 will compress down well enough for lighter days and therefore allow me more room on days when I want to pack extra stuff.  Sometimes the wife tags along and I want to bring some more food or water.  I tend to carry more than I need anyway.

I have a 7200 , i put a 1800 bag on for day trips wish i would have got the 3200 . it should work well , carry a 65 l dry sack inside for meat or extra gear .

I would recommend the 1800...it's should have plenty enough size during majority style day trips and if it it doesn't I would add a 35 liter dry sack between the bag and frame

This set up has got me through nearly every situation imaginable including more than a couple winter style  camping trips

3200 is perfect for day hunts. Last year I ran the 1850 this year the 3200. Much happier with the size , design, and how it covers my stays. It gets as small as the 1850 compressed but taller. Much better bag IMO

That being said I did order a Icon Pro 1850, didn't see much point in duplicating my 3000 with a 3200.

I have the 7200, 3200 and 1800 Icon Pro bags.

1800 = day hikes, day hunts, I carry this bag inside my 7200 and convert on backcountry hunts
3200 = weekend scouting trips, day pack in late season if I need to carry more clothing.  It's larger than I would want as a typical day pack but if you can only get one you probably want this size.

I'd opt for the 3200 as a day pack because it weighs only a few ounces more than the 1850 and compresses nicely.  I doubt you would notice a difference while chucking through the brush.

I switched from the 1800 series to the 3000 series for day packs because the tops of the carbon stays would catch on tree branches and crap while crawling through the brush.

1850 is an awesome day pack.  Me personally I found that I didn't need the organizational capabilities, multiple pockets, etc. for day pack use.  Instead I use the ultra 1850/3000 for day use @ 9/12 oz respectively.

I'm not an ounce counter either, just figured why carry more (plus packs are just cool).
