Stuffer decoys work great. The only downfall is packing them in very far. But they sure do attract birds, especially if you have a slight breeze to lightly lift the feathers. The sun also make the colors really stand out.

what the heck heads did you use on them?

i would hate to have to pack them all over. they look good but there heads look to blue

They are the original heads. They look bluer than they really are. The idea of a decoy is to attract. Adding a little brighter color does just that. You can't argue with the results. 30-40 birds decoyed a year (hens, jakes and toms) they seem to be working just fine.

k i am just wondering how you have stuffers when you cant shoot a hen unless it has a beard?

In the fall you can shoot hens up north. The ones head looks like an oscelated turkey to me. Where I hunt, couldn't use them, have to walk way too far.

The hen on the left came from N. Dakota and the hen on the right is from the Klickitat. If you look at a hens head up close some have little red nodguals.  Some are bigger than others and some just have a shade of red. The Klick bird was real messed up and had a huge growth in its throat. Probably wouldn't have lasted the winter. That's why she was taken.

not to hijack your thread but did you just admit that the hen from klickitat was shot illegally? i may be misunderstanding but sounds kind of interesting to post that

How in the hell did you come up with that from that post? There is a fall turkey hunt for either sex in the Klickitat unit.

Well excuse me I apologize but I did say I may be wrong and t a prior post said you can shoot em up north an another post of yours on another thread about klickitat said you agree people shouldn't be shooting hens down there because it could easily hurt the bird numbers I was just commenting not saying your a poacher

Great job, I have thought of the same thing myself with a bird my friend had stuffed that doesn't look very good but would work great for a decoy.  I bet you didn't think people were going to judge your decoys and call you a poacher when you started this thread.   Good luck this spring and remember don't shoot the hens until this fall

how bout a stuffer decoy for coyotes? think it would work?

Are they real birds that have been stuffed? Stupid question probable.

Jdb, I mounted a shoulder of a coyote for a friend of mine. It's an open mouth that looks like he is panting. Real non aggressive looking. I made it so he could put it on a stake behind some brush. It works pretty good. It weighs about 4 lbs though.
