We on the west side have taken it in the shorts.
Lost 1 unit, reduced late hunt by 10 days in some units.
The people that hunt the either sex units got a few more days. I thought they might give us a few more units but they took 1 away.

Which one got taken away? I didn't notice that. A unit that we hunted early season this last year got switched to late season. But I didn't notice any completley eliminated. Sure was hoping they would add a couple. I'm thinking of switching to rifle but probably won't.

From reading the proposed regs, I am seriously considering getting a muzzleloader for this fall elk hunt.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

Why? What changes do you see that makes it look better than in previous years? I'm only asking because I'm thinking maybe you saw something that I didn't.

I don’t see much change to ML elk season except the over lap with ML deer season has been addressed.  Some tags have been added but it looks like the overall number of tags is less.

Looks like about a 30% reduction in West side tags (about 315 less tags).

I guess i am special, i didn't see that they moved it. Not that it helps any we don't hunt those units, so moving that one in the early season will just moive them right down the road and make that one even more crowded than it already is.

I see that Yale is part of the regular ml season. There are no permits or modern rifle there. I have seen lots of elk there.

I'm not happy about----that we finally may get an Entiat tag, but its only for the five days after the rifle guys have been in there for 24; the general increase in all weapons special tags;  that the late deer hunt in 578 is gone and not really replaced with another area;

I don't really care about----the new bullet rules; the longer early season (I've heard a lot of guys say they are switching to muzzleloader now)

I'm happy about----they don't allow 209's, or scopes, the season overlap issue (kindof)

have you guys had a chance to check out the season changes?i have and i for one think we finally got our due.more game units open for muleys especially 215 i havent been able to hunt that unit since i went to muzzle.also check out the # of any buck permits for 200 series units for deer :IBCOOL:the last couple of years i havent even put in for special permits.

I like the changes and agree.  More opportunity out there for muzzleloaders.  The archers will be cranky!
