Reputable diesel mechanic shops around Snohomish county?
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:27:50 AM »
Hey all, looking for a trustworthy diesel shop around here.  I don't need any performance stuff or fancy whizzbangs or anything, just some basic stuff.  Truck is a 1995 F350, 7.3l 5 speed 4wd if that's of any help.  So what are good shops to spend my $ at?  Any place I should avoid?  Thanks in advance for any help!!

Isn't there a shop in Snohomish?  Dynamic diesel? I think I've heard the name come up in a positive light.

I know I have heard of them and also dynamite diesel (?) In Monroe.  I have no idea if either are reputable, never knew anyone who went there.

I've heard more than one story about a shady experience at Dynamic Diesel.

I will say I drive past there a few times a week and their lot is always full of trucks.

Ive used dynomite in monroe for my work truck. Good experience. There is also Diesel outfitters in smoky point. I know ben the lead mechanic. When I had to replace the injectors on my dodge I skimped and got factory injectors for a little more I could have got performace injectors. I didnt realize my mistake until my buddy with the same truck just put the injectors in. Quieter and smoother operation.
You have a great truck if it needs some work do some small upgrades you wont be sorry.

Performance guys seem to do great work because they are focused on a small segment of vehicles

Awesome info and recommendations so far, thank you all!

It sucks going blindly into the yellow pages or the interwebs looking for reputable services, I really appreciate you guys being a resource like this!

I'm scared to ask, but....  how much did injectors set you back, parts and install?

Dont remeber it was a few years back.I think bosch injectors ran $275 ea and the 50hp were another 100-150. I could be wrong... they have a sonic injector cleaner there and spray anilizer on site.
I look at my trucks a little different than some because they help me earn. I also know im not going to buy any of the new junk that is made now. So its repair bills instead of payments.
Im not much of a mechanic but ice changed cluches done breaks radiators and such. Most of the exceptional "Value" ive recieved at independent shops are specialized in a few kinds of vehicles. Diesel, japanese, nordic, american etc. They get effecient at the r&r and see the trends to look for in certain vintage rigs.

I bought injectors from Lenny at Dynomite a couple times for some Cummins trucks. Always significantly cheaper than injectors from the factory were.
If I remember correctly, they were performance injectors too, but I don't recall all the details for sure.

I've used Dynomite in Monroe, plus ordered on-line from BD Diesel.  I installed my BD injectors myself, not that hard on a Cummins.  Not sure about the 7.3l Ford.

Jackelope (Josh) is an exceptional guy too, and I think he works at a Ford dealer now.

Take care,

There iis also Randy's Offroad in Smokey Point.  They do a good amount of diesel work. They typically do performance work, but at minmum they should have some good recomendations for you if it is not something they would do themselves.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

I drove my truck half way across the state to drop it off at SnoValley diesel. I would do it again but won't need to.
