bmc puppy for Christmas
«
on:
December 19, 2015, 05:09:30 PM »
My wife just made the mistake of authorizing a Christmas puppy for our family. I just wanted to throw out a line here to see if there were any bmc pups around. Prefer a female
Thanks Justin Hill

I've been a Catahoula guy for years. However I'm down to 1, a male about 9 years old. This potlicker is a cow eating s.o.b.
It's been my experience that though the Catahoula breed is absolutely a great breed, they have begun to bred more for there looks than hunting /working ability. Hence my desire to go the bmc route.

And on finding one for christmas, almost gurantee you will have to ship one in from somehwere else to get one soon. I only know one guy in WA that has them and he doesnt have any pups, if your serious about getting one go on squrrel dog.com

Ive owned 3 bmcs previously and currently have a catahoula. If your focus is primarily treeing get a bmc. If you want a dog primarily for herding and a little tracking get a catahoula. All three of my bmc have been better around strangers and strange dogs than any catahoula I have seen.

Like I said before I've been a Catahoula guy for a long time. Though I have always had a soft spot for the bmc dogs. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the 2 breeds are basically the same thing just different colors.

They are very similar types of cur. Bmc dogs sure are less noisy.

I believe they are quite a bit different, hunting ability and style as well as temperament.

Luna, you might consider a Leopard Cur.

there is also very different bloodlines within breeds. Ive had bmc's that are completely different dogs, some super territorial others not, some stubborn like a hound others you better not get ruff with. Find a breed you like then before you buy a puppy find out what the parents are really like.
