Taking the stage at George Mason University, Obama accused the NRA of refusing to participate in the town hall despite having its headquarters nearby.

"Since this is a main reason they exist, you'd think that they'd be prepared to have a debate with the president," Obama said.

NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said beforehand that the group saw "no reason to participate in a public relations spectacle orchestrated by the White House." Several NRA members were in the audience for the event, which was organized and hosted by CNN. And the NRA pushed back on Twitter in real time, noting at one point "none of the president's orders would have stopped any of the recent mass shootings."

This bothers me. Why wouldn't the NRA participate? Instead, "the NRA pushed back on Twitter in real time". That's a limp-wristed approach to a serious discussion.

They would get one pre screened question.

Possibly. Nevertheless, I'd like to see the NRA flex some rhetorical muscle, and not "in real time on twitter". I voted "yes". Currently 75%.

If you think an Obama debate hosted on CNN would be anything resembling fair then we don't watch the same shows.  You are not going to change the mind of Obama or the lefties, I prefer the NRA to spend their effort and money working with congress and fighting legal battles.

It's the same reason you only see Obama on lefty shows, they only do staged setups where you can read known questions off the teleprompter and surround yourself with people that think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Nobody asks him the real questions that he doesn't have answers for.
