collagen casings ?
« on: January 10, 2016, 05:06:19 PM »
Did another batch of snack sticks today. I have used several of the High mountain brand 21mm casings in the last 6 months, and they have varied in size. Sometimes I can put the whole compressed casing tube on to the stuffer horn...sometimes not. When stuffed, some are around pinky finger size, some are like thumb size.

Size does seem to be the same through out the entire package, the variance is from one package to the next.  :dunno:  To be clear.....these are collagen, not natural.

Anyone else notice this,  or have a suggestion on a different brand that is more consistent?

We haven't gone through more than a couple of packages, but we've had good luck with "Sausage Maker Inc" (both company and brand of collagen casings).  21mm brown casings.

Sorry late to the party, just saw your post.
I get mine from Mitchlich's in spokane. Website is Spokane Spice Company. I think they are 19mm, I've had no variation in diameter. I have the same problem as I can't get an entire hank on the tapered stuffing tube. I'm gonna pick up a straight one..
