Stick to one shot size and shell most of the season.  I will carry some 3-1/2" Hevi metal BB's for big geese if I need to change out.

Like fowler said, pick a shot size and shell and stick with it.  Pattern your gun during the summer shooting whatever you think you might use.  Your shots may start getting better.
