Darn Tough Socks
« on: January 22, 2016, 03:33:46 PM »
I have read some great reviews and I am wanting to get a couple pair. I like their guarantee and that they are made in the USA. The problem is they have so many choices. I'm looking for a good hiking/hunting sock any recommendations?

The reviews look good.

I personally prefer to wear two pairs of socks: a light inner sock, and a second outer sock. As a result I light the outer sock to be thin, otherwise my foot becomes too tight in the boot.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I've got 3 pairs of these ones. Love them for hiking and hunting.

Yep silk will keep a dry barrier and merino will wick moisture away! I found this out while trying to break in a pair of Kennetrek boots that destroyed my feet ! But I still use this combo hot or cold and have had happy feet ever since!

I don't do liner socks at all. I've tried. No good for me. Different strokes for different folks.

Darn toughs are great. The guys at Lathrop and sons really like them. Have used liners but they didn't seem to make a big difference to me. Some people swear by them.

My favorite is the cabelas ingenius. I bought some one day without looking into it much. I noticed that they didn't make my feet hot and sweaty nearly as much as the darn toughs or smartwools in the warmer weather. I went home and ordered 5 pair. Supposedly they're a liner sock and insulating sock in one. I also have no problem wearing them in below freezing weather.

I cant get the socks I love.  I bought 6 pairs of fox river socks from a sale bin at Dels feed back in 2006, they have been worn near daily, hiked in, hunted in, around the house, you name it I love these darn socks.  2 pairs now have blown holes in toes, and the other 4 pairs are getting weak.  I am guessing I will be losing my favorite socks ever this year and have found NO other socks that have ever held up like these.  10 years they have lasted at about 8 a pair pretty good investment.

these are similar but not the socks I have https://www.foxsox.com/catalog/product.aspx?type=sockfinder&sortorder=stylenumber&height=L0003&weight=W0003&padding=&content=I0006&temperature=&activity=&feature=&size=&audience=&stylenumber=&selectedstyle=2099
