Here is some info on the 7mm-08 rem. It is using a 140gr nosler partition.

Here is some info on the 7mm Rem Mag shooting the same bullet
http://www.federalpremium.com/products/details/rifle.aspx?id=375

The 7mm mag beats the 7mm-08 by about 5 inches at 400 yards with this bullet. While it only beats the .270 by 2 inches. And if you buy a 7mm-08 you basically have to handload because they don't load very many heavy bullets for it. Federal's heaviest load is the 150 hot-core.

Personally I think that if you want to get a flat trajectory without using a BIG magnum I think you should look into the .270 WSM. They don't kick very much and I has about the same or maybe slightly better ballistics than the 7mm mag. But I don't think that it will do anything that the regular old .270 winchester won't. :twocents:

Don't you just love a good cartridge debate :)

Why don't you buy it from him? The last of the New Haven guns are gonna be worth a good chunk of money.

No calibers shoot flat, they all fall from the time they leave the muzzle, they all fall at the same rate its just some of them fly further before they hit the ground! and there are all kinda reasons why.
confused yet?

I agree. I'd sell it too. I have no use for a gun with a fancy stock. Actually instead of selling the gun I might just swap with a synthetic stock and sell the wood stock on ebay.
