Outfitter Recommendation?
« on: February 12, 2016, 11:04:35 AM »
I am researching Wyoming outfitters and hunt areas to book a trip for the 2017 season - My son and I have max points and will book this spring but I would like to hear from any of you that have had good or bad experiences with an outfitter. I have looked at both ranch hunts and the full pack in wilderness experience so I am open to all of your input. Thanks - Rick

I'm sure there are a bunch but some that i have looked at include.

Q creek - they have a 550,000 acre ranch
Wagonhound - huge private land. big $$$
out west safaries
boulder basin and a couple others that hunt the late wilderness hunts - max points might give you less then 10% draw odds

My son guided with Brent Sorenson and knows him well, he says Brent and Becky are good people, not sure what region you want to hunt, they are near Greybull.

If I had max points and was going with an outfitter I'd take a look at unit 61 and Bob Sundeen. I've not hunted with Bob but he was recommended to me by Robb Wiley.

Went with Wolverine Creek Outfitters back in 2014, can't say enough good things about them. First class all the way.

Thank you for your responses. I decided to book our trip with Elk Mountain Outfitters in area seven for the 2017 opener - We researched quite a few outfitters all over the state and sent out quite a few feelers. The biggest surprise for me in this process is that many of my emails and phone messages went unanswered. It seems to me if you are trying to sell a hunt, with prices ranging from $4,000.00 to $9,500.00, you might respond to a request for information. I am happy with our choice and now I need to be patient and wait for October 2017 to get here. Rick

what unit did you book with them? is it a landowner tag?
Grill it, fry it, smoke it or just eat it raw

http://www.fishhawkmtn.com/ actually I used to work for this outfitter when I was in highschool camp is done in wall tents right next to a great trout stream up on a great open park expanding over a mile. Sheep can even be spotted on the nearby bluffs
