what are my chances
« on: February 19, 2016, 11:20:23 AM »
I'm leaving for elk river id tonight until the 28th to bag a wolf. I'll try an update when I can. I'll be walking forest roads not plowed covering as much ground as possible. If I can find some recent activity I'll pack in an set up camp. Going to stay in my rig the remainder of the time. Wish me luck

weather is a little nasty there tonight and tomorrow morning.  Should clear out and calm down after that.  Best of luck, save an elk

I'd say your chances are slim to nil, but good luck. There was a small pack on Jericho Mtn and down on Swamp ck rd and Bear cr rd during hunting season. Its south of Elk River.

Make it a photo trip, without a snowmobile or bait getting a wolf could be harder than getting an elk in oct.

good luck !

Can you be more specific. I'm serious about following up with recent activity. I have no set location to hunt, just where the wind blows me.

Hiked in just under 4 miles this afternoon. Lots of game sign at around the3 mile mark. Followed one wolf track for about 2 miles until he dove off. He was a day or two in front of me. Not much deersign. Mostly elk an two moose. Moose have quite the gap in between steps. I feel bad because they sink in the snow like 2 1/2' also. It was a beautiful day with the rest of the week looking the same. Tried howling at dark before coming out with no response. Walking in this snow is a real b----. Day 2 tomorrow
