30mm tube going on a 338 win mag. Looking for suggestions for a base and scope rings. Like to stay in the 150-300 dollar range. Give me some good options..

I go warne or leupold. A set of mk4 rings and leupold base would put you at about 300. If you went warne you would be probably about 125-175 depending if you went to there heavy tactical style rings. Both are very stout and a bit heavy so if you are looking to save weight they might not be the right fit for ya. If weight is no problem they are rock solid.

Lookswise not so much into the angular look or ones that clamp at the top. Nightforce or leupold would be my choice

Steel one piece rail like Warne, either their rings or Vortex Precision Matched rings.

Seekins or Vortex PMR's if you have a $300 budget is what was recommended to me. I tried to keep it closer to $150 and went with a EGW rail and Burris Extreme Tactical rings.

I really like warne maxima steel rings. I have a few sets on egw rails.
My 375 hh has a egw rail and maxima rings.

If you're using a rail I'd go with the vortex precision matched rings or seekins. I think seekins makes them for vortex. They're a solid ring and machined well. If you're looking to save weight I'd go with the Talley one piece.

You guys make me feel cheap! I'd go with the Warne steel 2 piece base and a set of Burris Signature Zee rings. Total cost of about $75 and that scope will never move.

the egw combo and maxima rings are right there in price also.

TPS TSR for me. I really like that they're designed to torque one side down completely and then torque the other side, no criss-cross patterning when you tighten the rings.

I have a 338 win mag and got a scope and leupold rings and bases from cabelas and after a year of hunting and shooting at the range the recoil had actually bent the rings enough that the scope was stuck in the base side of the ring when I went to upgrade scope. I switched to Warne and couldn't be happier.

Have a Near Mfg. setup on one and all the rest are NF ring & rails. Even have one rig that has a double set of NF rings.

Crunchy - part of it depends on the purpose and style of rifle you are working with. If you have a sporter look/feel I would go with the warne two piece steel base and burris signature rings (no lapping required and rock solid). I have used this set up with great results on my sporter rifles. I have also used the talley one piece system with good results. If you have a rifle with tactical features there are many great options from NF, Seekins, Badger and others. Take a look at Extreme Hardcore Gear. They make some great stuff too. I use the NF rings and NF 20 MOA base on my long range rigs and have been very happy. Also, keep in mind the objective size on your scope, you want a base/ring set up that correctly aligns the scope to your eye when the rifle is mounted. I see many rifles with straight comb stocks and guys will put a rail and high bases with a 56mm scope on it. Then when they try to shoot they are bobbing there head all over trying to get a clear sight picture. Inconsistent cheek weld won't do your accuracy any good.

Been running the Leupold bases and rings for 10 + years on my .338 Win and they have been rock solid......Been out of state travel for the last 6 years and always arrives dialed in.

A set of whatever "Weaver" bases are sitting around and Burris Signature Zee rings is my go to. I have been trading out the Redfield w/windage adjustable rear ring/base for weaver bases because the turn in dovetail just isn't that great. Actually it sucks because it gets loosy goosy. Any Picatiny base and Burris Sig Zee rings is my gold standard and will be unless anyone can show me any movement. This setup ain't gonna' turn heads and make it look like you are some kind of scope ring Oracle, but it is absolutely rock solid and it matters not to me if the base is steel or aluminum.

I have a set of leupold mk4 30mm rings I would sell for a good price..

They certainly aren't cheap, that's for sure, but I bought a new 338-378 Accumark some years back and I had a NF scope on it.

Relatively light gun that's a big heavy hitter with heavy weight bullets and a muzzle brake plus heavy scope makes for a bit of a challenge to hold it in place. Tried a little bit of everything and none of them would make that NF scope stay put until I went with the three ring Alphamount setup from Near Mfg. Sold the the rifle a few years ago but kept the Near setup that is on a different rifle

The fact that it is a Pre64 is making it a little more difficult to find decent rings and bases? I would like two piece bases, but not a lot of option. Maybe I am not as savy on the web as I thought lol. Scope arrives tomorrow......

It shouldn't be hard to find Weaver two-piece bases and a 30 mm Signature Zee Ring set up. Some people use other steel Weaver style bases, but I find the originals to be perfectly adequate

Ive tried Sportsman warehouse and wholesale sports with no luck. Im going to hit Sportco today. If no luck there I will order those warne bases.

Cabela's stocks them in Lacey... sometimes. And then they will all be in the Bargain Cave, and then they come back on the floor and the process seems to repeat. You might call them.
