Remington 11-87 review?

Estate sale find.  Un-fired Remington 11-87 Sportsman Super Mag ShurShotTurkey w/scope.  $550 - seller pays transfer.  Good/bad?  Seeing good and bad reviews   Traded off my only shotgun 3 years ago.  Want to do some more turkey hunting.

I have one, but not the "Turkey" version.  The biggest thing that I like is that I grew up with an 1100 so it "feels" the same, the safety is the same, it just handles and points the same, even the recoil impulse feels the same. 

I had trouble with low base shells until I broke it in, which took quite a few rounds.  I have zero feeding problems with it now.  I have taken 3 turkey with it using 3.5 shells.  I also go duck hunting a couple of times a year now, standing in the water, any water on the gun freezes type weather and it has done very well, no feeding problems once broken in. 

A couple of things, I pull the forearm off and wipe off any oil on the magazine tube.  I also wipe off any old gunk in the action.  After I wipe off any old lube, I spray it liberally with Rem Oil.  Rem Oil is a very light oil an isn't much good for anything except for being what it is, a very light spray on oil that is very thin.  Rem Oil won't last long so It will need to be reapplied, just wiped off and sprayed on.  That is basically all the cleaning I have ever done to it, takes just a couple of minutes.

I hunted with an 11-87 for 10 years or so.  I really liked the gun as it fit me.  Only bad thing was the blueing was thin and I had rust from time to time.

As a Turkey gun i think you'll be fine.

I've been running an 1187 premier for 12 years hunting waterfowl, upland, turkeys and shooting clays. Only problem I have had was the O ring drying out and falling apart. Easy enough fix. I personally love the 1187 but there seems to be some people who do not. I find them to fit me well and function perfectly. It should do well for you.

Mine has been through hell and back, was stolen from me a few years back, then returned after ot was found in a feild, covered in rust. I sanded it down and painted it, now every year it gets a fresh coat of paint. I've put thousands and thousands of rounds, from the lightest trap loads, to super heavy duplex loads down it, with no problems at all. No other gun fits me as well, I've had the versa max in my hands ready to buy a few times, and never pulled the trigger.

This year I'm gonna blast the whole thing, and give it some cerakote, and I might even replace the oring. It has been the most trouble free gun I've ever owned. My 870 on the other hand, took some time to get reliable.
Both of them had pretty lousy coatings from the factory, but that shouldn't be a problem if your jot using it rough like I do.

I like buffered 3 inch mag #6 for turkey. am not a 3.5 fan.

My Sportsmen did not eject reliably enough for me. I have shot a 11-87 Premiere trap and it ejects fine. I wont buy another Sportsmen.
