Packing a DSLR
« on: April 19, 2016, 08:58:12 PM »
Anyone do a little wildlife or other photography in the backcountry?

How do you carry your camera and gear?

Inside your main bag?
In a separate bag/sling/pouch?

Just curious I'm trying to start carrying a camera and need to figure out how to integrate it into my pack system.

It can be a pain. Depending on your lens size. I carry a lot with the black rapid sling. But sometimes tuck it all in my badlands super day. Obviously one is easier for access than the other.

I use the  horn Hunter full curl pack and carry my camera and extra lense in one of the spotting scope pouches. For instant access I carry a small video camera in the belt pocket.

I carry mine in my pack when hunting, when not hunting I carry it on my shoulder for quick access.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

I hate straps. I rock a battery grip and run commando. If I'm climbing up and down rocky hills where my spastic fingers could drop $3,000, I'll throw it in a shoulder bag that fits around my camelbak.
